Therapy sessions
Working together
The first few sessions are about offering time and space for you to settle into the therapy process. We'll explore where you're currently at, and how we can move towards what you are looking to gain from therapy. It is always a collaboration.
It may be that you have things you want to share with me straight away, and at the same time it might seem daunting to begin talking, I understand this. As always we take things at your pace and explore what is going to best support you.
Whilst therapy is often associated with 'sitting and talking', I encourage different mediums for expression, for example drawing, art, using sound/music and movement, when this feels right for you.
I will also invite opportunity for you to discover how your nervous system plays a role in your mental health, and how working holistically can support you in restoring optimal health.
The next stages
The next few stages are about working in ways that invite curiosity into your process. As humans, curiosity opens us up to take in new ideas and concepts, and invites you to consider the idea that wherever you are at, whatever you are coming with, and whatever you believe about yourself currently, there are pathways and resources available whereby you can feel you have more choice and balance within your life.
I do this through introducing how your nervous system plays a role in your mental well- being, and together, we start to explore what we call; your autonomic story.
When you can understand your personal nervous system, new opportunity becomes available to you. In short, it tends to be a game changer for people and their process.
As your process gains momentum, we will integrate effective methods and practices into our sessions to continually support both you and your nervous system, and as this happens, you may find your perspective starts to shift.
From here most clients find they feel clearer in themselves, more energised, less reactive, have more agency and are more inspired to maintain what they have gained for themselves so far. Life has gone from being 'unbearable', to 'doable', to 'inspiring'.
To find out more about the role our Autonomic nervous system plays, you can read about it here on my blog.
